Each agility venue has their own method of doing scoring. The Scorekeeper is responsible for ensuring that the Scorers are doing things correctly. The key to happy exhibitors is quick scoring results. Scorekeeping can be a stressful job.
- Put a barrier around the scorekeeping table to keep the exhibitors from pestering the Scorers.
- There should be a MINIMUM of two people at the score table.
- Have baskets available for the scribe sheets. The scribe runner should put the sheets into the designated basket.
- It is helpful to have the SCTs and yardage available for reference.
The Scorer calculates the scores.
- Mark the time each class started and ended on the class sheets.
- Adds up the marks made by the Scribe and writes them on the master score sheet.
- Convert the time into seconds. If the dog exceeded course time calculate the time faults.
- Check for faults that would NQ the dog. This varies by class and venue.
- Add up all faults to determine whether or not the run was a Q.
- Determine first, second, third, and fourth places.
